Traditionally, Cost-Of-Living surveys rank the Montcross area as one of the best communities in the Southeast.  A recent review of housing market data supplied by the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association shows that the average listing price for single family homes in Gaston County is $182,000. There is also an ample supply of executive housing with golf and water amenities.

In addition to Gaston County schools there are more than a dozen private schools locally available and over 30 colleges, technical institutes and universities within 50 miles of Montcross.

SHOPPING AND DINING

Montcross has no shortage of shopping and dining opportunities.  Stroll the boutique shops along the Main Streets of Belmont, Mount Holly and McAdenville, spend a day shopping and dining at the 1.3 million square foot Northlake Mall, or stay right at Montcross for shopping at Lowe’s, Walmart, and fine local merchants.

For dining, there are a great variety of opportunities to suit every taste.  From high end dining in downtown Charlotte, to family dining at one of the local retaurants, the Southern hospitality will never let you go hungry.

RECREATION AND ENTERTAINMENT

There are numerous public and private golf courses open for play all year round. The US National Whitewater Center offers biking and running trails, a climbing center and the unique multiple-channel, customized whitewater river.  The Catawba River, Lake Norman and Lake Wylie provides many activities for the water lovers and the North Carolina mountains are only a short drive away.

For professional sports, there’s NFL football with the Carolina Panthers, NBA Basketball with the Charlotte Hornets, Minor League Baseball with the Charlotte Knights, Major League Soccer, and the annual Quail Hollow Golf Championship that continually attracts the PGA’s best players.

The area also has some of the finest cultural attractions in the state, including The Schiele Museum of Natural History and Planetarium, the Mint Museum of Art, the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center and the 480-acre Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.
